I wear a smile often. That's probably why they call me Sunshine. I love to smile. It can brighten up someone's day and that, in return, can make my day.
I smile when I'm happy and sometimes, even when I'm sad. It can help me feel better but it can also hide what's going on underneath that smile.
This doesn't always mean it's a bad thing. I'm choosing happiness over giving into pain. I will face the pain but it does not define me. It does not write my story. God does.
One of my favorite sayings is "pain is real but so is hope". There is always hope in one form or another. You have the power to choose to seek and find that hope.
A smile on my hardest days has helped me push through and notice the blessings around me. Even in the darkest places, you will find love and joy through a different lens. When you're in that position, you're more grateful...you figure out what is actually beautiful.
Beauty is on the outside but the heart and spirit is where the true beauty is, underneath.
